Oyster Beds in Le Canon, France

Oyster Beds in Le Canon, France
30" x 40" oil on stretched canvas

Sitting on the veranda facing this beautiful vista and its changing sunrises and sunsets is what we do when we visit Le Canon at the Gilchrist home of Patrick and Florence, parents of our close friends Seamus and Mia.

This is a painting of oyster beds in the Bassein de Archechon in the northwestern shore of France near Cap Ferret, an hour north of Bordeaux. It is also where Monet and other impressionists painted because of its beauty.

The house looks out at this vast water basin full of oyster beds. The raw oysters in all the areas of these waters are so fresh and delicious. We eat them at the little restaurant houses owned by the French oyster fishermen and enjoy the beautiful waterfront view and the changing sunsets.

This painting is sold, but an 8" x 10" print is available for $75 plus s/h.

Jacob with Army and Navy

Jacob with Army and Navy
20" x 16" acrylic on smooth bristol paper
Jacob, my grandson, loves his two cats Army and Navy who look like twins. Their personalities are quite different. Navy is quite social and loves to be petted. Army only makes an appearance when he is hungry and is frightened by new faces so shuns being petted. But they bring joy to his family.

Sunrise in Tropic Harbor

Sunrise in Tropic Harbor
32 1/2" by 39 1/2" acryllic on paper framed

This painting is my impression of a sunrise seen in Tropic Harbor in Del Ray, Florida. Every January my husband and I visit our friend Pat who lives in a condo overlooking this wonderful harbor. As often as I can, I try to catch the sun rising over this waterway which casts a different picture each moment as it gradually appears through the cloud formations.

This painting is matted and framed with a light oak wood protected by plexiglass. It is priced at $2500 plus s/h.

Country Road I

Country Road I
20" x 16" acrylic on canvas
A few years ago I traveled with a group of friends to Middlesburg, Va. and stayed at the Poor House Bed and Breakfast. It was actually once an authentic poor house where people were sent who had debts they couldn't pay. Now it is converted to a warm, comfortable bed and breakfast. This is a view near this B & B as you hike down the road a bit.
Middlesburg is horse country and is so close to Washington D.C. that when the Kennedy's were in the White House they attended Catholic Church services here. Also, I was told that Mrs. Kennedy used to ride horses through the fields of Middlesburg. Robert Duvall once owned a bar and restaurant not far from this B & B. It is a great place to vacation, especially in the Fall with the colorful foliage.
This painting won an Honorable mention at the Perkiomen Art Show in 2005.
This original painting is not for sale, but prints in various sizes will be available soon. You can email me for prices and sizes if you are interested. At a later date, I will add them to this post.
